Resolved 1 search box to search multiple fields?

Im allowing my users to list up to 3 businesses they're associated with. Each business has a text area field that Im using for "Key words".. is it possible for a single search box return user results from 3 different keyword fields? ... btw?.. is there a better way to do tags using this than just a text area field?
