Hi,

I installed v1.28 yesterday and did some testing today. The new release has caused one big problem. The site no longer maintains a login session. If I login normally then access pages that are restricted to my access privileges I get an immediate warning saying I must login first. It is like I am being booted out. I re-login and repeat to get the same result, cannot access.

This version is simply un-usable on a live site and needs to be fixed. This should never have been released with such problems. I am forced to roll back to v1.25, the last known version that was reliable for maintaining login.

Ok, as follow-up, I am now rolled back to v1.25 on my live site. If you need to see this problem on my site, I can certainly install v1.28 on my test site for you to test with. Please let me know.

Sorry, but on my live site I cannot have such issues left for my users to struggle with!

Hi,
Sorry but on our site we use 1.2.8 and no problem.
Also many users have downloaded the last version and not reported nothing.

If you send me your test site details we check this issue. You can use the form below the reply in site details tab

I am sorry, but what I observed immediately after installing v1.28 must have been a strange coincidence. I just installed v1.28 and the custom socialconnect.php on my test site and it worked fine. So then I went back and re-installed on my live site, and to my surprise, it worked perfectly fine there too!

Very strange that what I saw disappeared after rolling back to v1.25. Anyway, now, everything seems fine so I will leave it and monitor for any problems. Sorry for jumping to the conclusion it was EasyProfile but I think you can understand why based on what I had seen. Thanks.

When updating Joomla or any component I recommend to clear the cache of Joomla (if used) and the browser cache.

Before release a new version we always test it on our production site, we trust our products. On this site we also use our Beta.

I noticed on your site the LOGIN and REGISTER links have changed to colored buttons, much like the socialconnect buttons

We use a simple HTML custom module with this code (available only for guest user):
<h5>Access to our site</h5>
<p><a class="logmein zocial" href="/sign-in.html">Sign in</a></p>
<p><a class="guest zocial" href="/account.html">Register Account</a></p>
<h5>Or use Social Network</h5>
<p>{_socialconnect_}</p>

remove "_" char from _socialconnect_

The classes to render buttons are included in SocialConnect CSS

Nice, thank you. Honestly, I am very strict myself about clearing the Joomla cache and the browser cache whenever I install anything, but maybe I forgot to do that yesterday. I will watch it closely, but all seems good now. Very strange.

BTW, I am now using v1.3.0 and it has the same problem but seems to be more frequent. I installed it thinking that by some chance it would address the issue. The last release that I know of where this did not occur was v1.2.5 If this continues un-addressed I will need to once again roll back to v1.2.5

Hi,
Sorry for late reply, it's night for us.

Thanks for your report. Tomorrow we will do many test to check this issue.

I am surprised because from 1.2.5 we have not change nothing that can cause this problem.

This leaves me with little doubt the problem is in the custom socialconnect.php

We will check and resend.

Let me ask you this, with the custom change in that file, is there any way to simply role that into the standard file by adding an "enable/disable" or "yes/no" setting?

Sorry, but for us the email is checked by Social Networks (twitter,facebook,ecc..). Also, you can not have the certainty that the mails are valid, because in Joomla the user can change the email address after registration.

Hi,
I'm really sorry for what is happening to you.

I tried to make the test even on your site using a Facebook account and I have not encountered the problem.

Have you tried with some other user?

Furthermore, we did not have any report from another customer.

To solve the problem we need to see and replicate the error.
