My login needs to stay in the userlist but I'm not one of the members on the website, I'm just the webdeveloper. My profile should not be visible in the profile list on the front end. Is it possible to hide profiles?

Joomla deletes the <>

I know, we resolve in next release

this is the best thing:

to exclude user groups
group_id NOT IN (2)

to include user groups
group_id IN (2)

with this you can specify more usergroups
example
group_id IN (2,8,...)

Yes,
you can use a option "Custom SQL WHERE".
example1: only user of a particular user group. read here

example2: exclude user of a particular user group: insert
group_id<>8

example3 for your situation): exclude 1 user: insert
id<>8

After saving the changes the <> disappears. So I used the example where I can list a group and choose to list all registered users by adding: group_id=2.

Nope I needed the <> and Joomla deletes the <> in this field when I save. I show only group 2 now and that works too.
