I am not sure how to delete photos I have posted on my profile as user.

There is some conflict with your template, so, there is a problem with some background, see my screenshot to find Delete button :D



And should the whole screen be taken up when viewing photos?
Probably this image is too small. Keep in mind that due to image optimizations the max-width of image will be 1000px.
