Hi,

Easy Profile plugin is great but I have one problem:

When user fill out the registration form and click button "Register" he gets error message:

"An error was encountered while sending activation notification email."

But he gets activation email.

Also, I tried to test "Send test mail" through Admin panel - System - Global configuration - Server and that also works.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Milan

Hi,
after some investigation this message seems to comes when Joomla try to send the email to all administrators (to notify a new user), so please check that all administrators have a valid email address.

Hi,
Easy Profile extends Joomla user management (not replace), so the registration form and process is the same of Joomla.
Activation email is sent by Joomla, so probably you will find same issue with or without Easy Profile.

Anyway do you use a SMTP server or PHP mailer?

Hi,

Activation email is sent, the only problem is that user get error notification instead of redirection.

I use PHP mailer.

Can you please try to configure an external SMTP to check if the error comes from Mail Sender configuration?

Hi,

I tried to configure external SMTP to my gmail address, but Google blocked it, I get this message from Google:

"Less secure app blocked

Google blocked the app you were trying to use because it doesn't meet our security standards.
Some apps and devices use less secure sign-in technology, which makes your account more vulnerable. You can turn off access for these apps, which we recommend, or turn on access if you want to use them despite the risks. Google will automatically turn this setting OFF if it's not being used."

Than I tried SMTP with SSL/TLS with server parameters, but i get the error:

"SMTP connect failed https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting";

when I click on "Send test email" button in admin panel. I tried all ports I found online (465, 587, 25)

I have Let's encrypt SSL, but maybe the problem is becuase this website is currently on subdomain.

Then I tried to change SMTP Security to None, and email is sent when I press "Send test email" button, but when I tried to register again, I got the same error message on the frontend.

I tried to search on Google what causing this problem, but I couldn't find any answer.

I can't believe this, my super user account didn't have any email address, I'm not sure how that happen.

I added email address to Super user and problem is solved :)

Thank you very much for your help!
