Hey guys,
I will have three CUSTOM usergroups. Based on the user, they will need to be placed in ONE of the three.
Member | Vendor | regular registered user
Preferably based on a custom link or other means not obvious to the end user, I would like these users automagicly placed in the correct usergroup. I don`t really care how, just figured a url would be easier.

What do you suggest would be the best practice for achieving this ?

Thank you

Hi,
ok I found the problem..sorry I had not seen.

You have choose "Field To Compare" on "Group", please set this parameter on "Custom Value".

If you choose "custom value" the value of field is compared with a static value that you choose with "Custom Value" parameter (see tips on screenshot)

The Base concept of Easy Profile is that EP extends Joomla User managment, not replace it, so registered group is set by Joomla com_user parameter and all registered user belong to this group.

Thanks John,

another way with link:
create Hidden field called "Usertype" and set follow conditions:
- if equal to custom value "member" add to group Member
- if equal to custom value "vendor" add to group Vendor

Create a menu item (Regular Registation) of type Users->Registration form for registerd users. You will have a url like http://yourdomain/registration
Create a menu item (Member Registation) if type System->External URL and set same url like this http://yourdomain/registration?usertype=member
Create a menu item (Vendor Registation) if type System->External URL and set same url like this http://yourdomain/registration?usertype=vendor

In URL it is possible to assign value of field during registration, documentation here: https://www.easy-profile.com/docs/27-set-default-value-in-registration-from-url.html

NOTE: default group (registered )is always assigned so:
with first link the user go in Registration group
with second the user go in Registration and Member groups
with third the user go in Registration and Vendor groups
Default group is set in Users->User Manager->Option, this is a Joomla configuration.

Ok,
the problem is this
when user register the Registered groups is always assigned (you can set this from Users->User Manager->Options). This is required by Joomla. So you can remove the first condition, with this:
if user choose registered go to Registered groups.
if user choose clients go to Clients and Registered group.

If you want that registered user have some privileges you can create another usergroup called "Member" under Registered groups and set condition 1 to add users to this new Group.

Registered groups is required for all members.

OK, so your saying ALL users even if you have several groups MUST not only be in whatever you we prefer them to be, but must also be in the the registered ?

And do these groups HAVE to be children of registered ?

Sorry, I have not read the notes.

I'm logged in simply because I not do logout :p

I think that the radio field is perfect, so you can create 2 group: Farmers market and Vendors

In radio you can use 3 options(Member,Farmers market and Vendors) and 2 condition to assign the usergroups.

Basically Member not have any special privileges, so you can not assign another usergroup but leave these users only in registered groups.

Ok, I have checked. You must remove the first condition (if equal to 1 add to registered group)

Remove "registered" group from conditions.

Registered group is implicit because this is set into Joomla Users parameter, and all user must be into registered group.

NOTE: The condition have two way, so for example if you choose value 2 (Member) the condition #1 try to assign Registered group, and condition #2 try to remove Registered group.

I only added the registered because did not work without.
I do not see an option to remove from group.
Your parameters only have add to group.

Hey John,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my issue.
I get what your saying and found this too.
Which it actually ok with me. My groups are in fact children of registered.
And with the new joomla thing of EVERYONE being in registered as well as whatever, that too is fine.
or at least i can live with. BUT it is adding to ALL groups ie: Registered, Members AND Vendors..
That can not have. I dont get it.

I appreciate your time.
