Resolved Can I Use Joomla Language Overrides in Social Network Plugin?

Hi There,

I really need to change the tab name 'People' to 'My Network', is this possible within Joomla's Language Overrides and without negatively impacting on my overall Social Network Plugin?

Hi,
sorry for late reply, it's a weekend for us.

Social Network plugin have a own framework, so it not works with Joomla Constants. See docs to understand how to override / create language translations at http://docs.easy-profile.com/index.php/article/social-network-make-your-language

for example in your case you can add a translation for english language:
- open file at /plugins/jsn/socialnetwork/app/Locale/en_GB/LC_MESSAGES/default.po
- edit line 391 and replace this


msgstr ""

with this


msgstr "My Network"

Sorry this is a late reply, just getting around to doing the above but as these changes are made within the JSN directory, files directly; does this mean that every single time that EP bring out a new version, I will LOSE all language file alterations please?

I sincerely hope not, as it will simply defeat the object and hence why I love working with Joomla's in-built overrides feature.

I look forward to your clarification.

Unfortunately all edited languages files will be overwritten on each update, this should not happen with new translations (added files).

Keep in mind that this happen only for Social Network plugin (not for Easy Profile).

Hi,
this won't then wipe all custom changes?

Yes, you need to backup folder /plugins/jsn/socialnetwork/app/Locale/en_GB/ before update.

In coming months, we will rewrite entire plugin to make it as component (not only a plugin), we plan also to use Joomla Language System.
