Hello,
I'm starting to test your profile component more importantly.
I thought it was possible to make a profile (and therefore directory) 100% with fields custom fields (preferably com_users or possibly com_contact).
I see the fields related to the profile (outside the core) when saving or editing are not related to com_users or com_contact but to your component.
I hope you have a solution because it was important for me to have this independent member directory of a component
Regards

Hi,
you can use Joomla fields to profile your users, Easy Profile extends Joomla user management (not replace), so all Joomla features will works.

Unfortunately you can use only Easy Profile fields to make search.

Hi,
sorry for late reply, it's night for us and our offices are closed :D

1) This should be fixed, now I have changed the order of system plugin by moving plugin "Easy Profile - System Plugin" before plugin that manage custom fields ("Système - Champs";).
Normally this is something that should be done during installation but it's possible that another component have reordered plugins.

2) The intention was there but this is something that we have postponed due to the following reasons:
a) The development of Joomla fields has taken different directions, for each minor version of Joomla we had to make some adjustments to make them usable
b) The search for these fields can not be optimized and is extremely slow:
- the data are stored together with the fields of all the other components and this increases the number of lines
- the table has a vertical structure, so if you have 20 fields, 20 lines are created for each user, if you have 10,000 users then you will need to find a value between 200,000 rows.
- the fields on the database are all of the same type, all search queries are not optimized by having to search for values in text fields.
c) This feature was requested by a few people ... mostly with a free subscription

3) Nope, custom fields works like all other Joomla User plugin. These are managed by Joomla.

Hi,
1) You have right, as default joomla fields seems does not allow to edit own field for Registered usergroup. This is not comfortable.

2) Unfortunately in the coming months we will work to 2 main points:
- Joomla 3.9 will have a new component called com_privacy. We want to make our products totally compatible with this component (https://developer.joomla.org/news/725-goals-for-joomla-3-9.html). It will allow you to make your site more compliant with the new GDPR law.
- In the coming months we could see a RC version of Joomla 4 and the work to make Easy Profile compatible is very huge.

3) I always recommend to use Easy Profile fields (of course :D ). For example from my point of views a feature like conditions to show/hide fields is a must have.

Hi,
the best way to migrate from CB is to export users* and use Easy Profile Import feature.

* I' do not know if CB have this function, anyway probably there is some tool that allow this

About GDPR, of course the goal is this, but before we need to check com_privacy potentiality. It's very important to use this component because all developers should make integration with it to met GDPR rules in a centralized way.
