Dear EP people,

We're building a professional (hope-so) website around easy profile.

Our designer created a mock-up and really advised us to add a search bar within the header. We're panicking a little bit, cause there is no such module.. only a menu-item link with listing profiels can do such a thing.

I only need to add like three of the search fields in a specific content area. (gmaps location + ratio, category-field and maybe a catch-all search field)

Is there 'some way' we can connect fields to the in-build-search-functionality or restyle te search-functionality within a set location?

I've added the mock-up and website link to this post. We're having an 'user experience' day planned next tuesday, we're freaking out.

Would you please point us is some helpfull direction? There's a developer involved, so it may be a bit more technical ;-)

Thanks for this great plugin and great support so far!

With regards,

Dennis

Hi,
you can write a module from template of search component.

see the file /components/com_jsn/views/list/tmpl/default_search.php
- at line 17 you can assign the ids of fields that you want in search so edit this from
$ids=$this->params->def('search_fields', array());
to
$ids=array(9,19,11);

- from line 18 to line 37 you will find the name field, you can remove these
- from line 72 to line 82 you will find the status field, you can remove these
- at line 59 you will find a label of fields, you can remove this
- now with CSS you can build layout for your module.

Can you guys please help me out with this one. It seems that a lot of people need this.

I know you're working hard to create a build in search function with joomla core smart search.

But it would be sooooo great if i could take out only the search functionality above the user-list and place it within a module. "search" will lead users to a user-list-menu-item of choice.

I'm no back-end developer, but can you get me a little on my way with the hard stuff... maybe a smart work around? We can style te thing ourselfs.

Would be so great

with regards,

Dennis
