Hello,

During Edit Profile where we have tabs for each group of fields, there is only a Submit at the bottom of the page and so users may forget to verify all their tabs. Would it be possible to have a 'Next' button in order to go through all tabs before submitting.

Thanks, Alexandra

Hi,
sorry for late reply, it was a weekend :D

You can move between tabs by clicking to the specific tab title, after edited all fields then you can submit the form only one time. Something like Step by Step is not useful in edit profile page and can create confusion. for example if you have 10 tabs and user need only to set 1 field then he need to press 10 times "Next" button before save profile, from my point of view I do not think it is reasonable, why user want to edit own profile? of course, he want to edit some information and not to edit or view all other values (it can view values from profile page).

Hi,
this is a normal thing, in edit profile page does not make a much sense something like this.
In the 99% of cases we assume all fields are already filled, so if the user need to adjust some value the user will be able to choose directly the tab that contain the field to change.

OK but if you want to change fields in multiple tabs, for example the first time that users will log on they will need to complete all the mandatory fields. However because they are in edit profile, they will have to fill and submit each tab separately.
It is a bit confusing.

Hi, Yes I understand your point. I am mostly concerned about the first time that the user will logon. It will be their first impression of the site and we have checked the option to force completion of missing fields.
We felt that it would be easier for the user to press next to be able to complete their missing data.
I agree that for future normal edit, it is fine to go to tabs individually.
Thanks, Alexandra
