I have a author information I want to add a field let say 2 checkboxes

[ ] Speaker (meaning the person can be booked as a “speaker”.
[ ] Contributor (meaning they are an author, or blogger)

Now on the list I can filter them by speaker and contributor is there a way to do that?

Hi,
yes,

SEARCH
you can add a filter, follow these steps:
1. set field searchable (screenshot 1)
2. in User List menu item set these parameters (screenshot 2)
- Show Search form: YES
- Fields to search: here choose your field
in alternative to you can put search form in each template position with our "Search Module" (http://docs.easy-profile.com/index.php/article/search-module)

DEDICATED MENU ITEMS
you can also create 2 menu items like "Speakers" and "Contributors", you can manage this with parameter "SQL Custom Where" in menu items to set a static filters, see doc at http://docs.easy-profile.com/article/sql-custom-where
