no sorry, to do this you need to override profile page layout with your custom layout.

how can i check if
$avatar=$this->form->getField('avatar');

contains the default value?

Hi,
you can get avatar url with this variable: $this->data->avatar

If $this->data->avatar is equal to default avatar then avatar is not uploaded.

Alternative is to build a query to check this, but this is more complicated and heavy.
